Who is eligible to apply for the Rise Forward Scholarship?
Anyone living with a confirmed diagnosis of cystic fibrosis is eligible to apply. There is no age limit for this scholarship. Parents or legal guardians are welcome to apply on behalf of their child or family if the individual with CF is underage or unable to complete the application independently.

What can the scholarship funds be used for?
The Rise Forward Scholarship Fund is flexible and designed to meet real needs. Eligible uses include (but are not limited to):
-
Medical expenses related to CF care or lung transplant support
-
Travel for treatments or hospital stays
-
Educational expenses (tuition, books, certifications)
-
Loss of income due to illness or caregiving
-
Mental health and wellness support
-
Assistive devices, equipment, or accommodations
-
Projects or goals that help you thrive in daily life

How much is the scholarship award?
The 2025 award amount is $3,000. This may vary each year based on funding and need. Scholarships are distributed in two segments:
- The first portion upon selection
- The second portion in January 2026, following continued ambassador participation

What if I’m not comfortable being fully public with my story?
We understand and respect that everyone has different boundaries. While some level of story-sharing is required, we work with each ambassador to define what feels authentic and safe for them.

Can I apply if I’ve received other VLF assistance or grants?
Yes! We welcome applicants who have been supported by other programs, as long as you meet the eligibility requirements and are excited about the ambassador commitment.

I’m a caregiver — can I apply on behalf of my child?
Absolutely. Caregivers can complete the application for minors or family members with CF. If selected, the ambassador commitment may be fulfilled together or through creative collaboration.

What if I have more than one child with CF? Can I apply for each of them?
At this time we are only able to accept one Rise Forward application per family. If you have more than one child with CF, we encourage you to tell us about your whole family in your application!

Will I have to show proof of how we used the scholarship?
We do ask that scholarship recipients provide receipts and proof of how funds are used. This is to ensure funds are being used specifically for CF-related care and resources. If you are unsure if something qualifies, please reach prior to using the funds.
